We got all bundled up to get out of the boat and enjoy the day.
We did a walk-about town.
Where do we begin!
We started with a walk up the street to Ron's Pawn Shop where we went in to check things out. We did not find anything would could not live without.
In front of the small marina at The Shrimp Boat we wandered through the booths selling fruits and veggies... jams and jellies... jewelry and listened to a guy who was singing the blues.
He was really good.
Al said that he caught this one using Lexi as bait.
Al rests a while... I found a few shops to go in.
After we got back to our marina we walked around looking at all of the fishing boats coming in and unloading their catch. They would separate them into baskets according to the variety and then they would weigh them and the buyers would check them out and choose the ones they wanted for their restaurants. It was interesting to see how they did it.
We talked to a guy who was cleaning a yellow fin tuna. He told us all about how they catch them with a 300+ foot line with bait every 10 feet or so. The big buoys on the back of the boat are used as floats. They just drag it through the water and catch the fish. The fish are graded for their quality. They must be at least 60 pounds for a #1 grade. Then it is based on the color and firmness of the meat. They use a steel rod that they insert and bring out a piece of the meat to test.
This was one was beautiful bright red, firm meat... but because it was only 50lbs it would not make #1 grade.
The guys was cutting it for his own family to eat. He offered to let me taste it but I just could not bring myself to eat raw fish.
We took Lexi for a another walk, also got some laundry done...and took a nap or two. :-) Then we walked over to Ernies to have dinner with Susan and Jerry. They plan to leave in the morning.
And of course.... another another beautiful sunset!
