It was so cold up on the flybridge that we decided to go down below to drive the boat from the salon where it was warm. We had to take the chart chip from the other chart plotter because the one downstairs does not have the charts.
After about an hour the winds died down to 8-10kts and the sun came "partially" out of the clouds to warm things up to mid 50's. So we moved made our way across the Lake and headed north.
It really was a great day on the water and we had no problems at all as we went through the "Narrows" at Mary Esther, FL and after crossing through Lake Chactawhatchee we made our way up Rocky Bayou to The Bluewater Bay Marina in Niceville.
The Marina is terrific. Tucked into a little cove it was easy to get into our t-head slip and we were greeted by the dock-hand Dave. Jimmy and April, the girls in the office, could not have been nicer!
We got in well before dark so we were able to look around a little. We had a drink in the Dockside Restaurant and Oyster Bar and then headed over to LJ Schooners for Dinner.
It rained all day Thursday. We used the loaner Jeep and went "site-seeing". However, it was not the best vehicle. We were warned not to turn the heater on... so, of course once we turned it on we found out why. The car made the most God-awful sound we have ever heard. Al turned it off as quickly as he could and we never turned it back on. We could not keep the windows from fogging up so we were constantly wiping them with paper towels and Diane froze to death in the back seat because of the window being partially down.
After a couple of geocache efforts and bombing out on finding a pizza place, we headed back to the marina for lunch. Drizzly rain out the window of the restaurant.
The rest of the day we spent hanging out... resting up for our trip the next day.
