1/16/2015 -1/17/2015 Panama City, Bay Point Marina

We were up at the crack of dawn and headed out at 6:30.  After a rainy and dreary day the day before we were delighted to wake up to beautiful clear skies.  The wind was low and the temp was cold but the morning quickly turned into a spectacular day.

From the moment we left the pier, we were surrounded by dolphins who escorted us out of town.  Huge and playful four huge ones were on our boy for a full 20 minutes.

Diane and Curtis are taking photos of them...

We entered into a narrow area of the ICWW called the Canyons.  It was just beautiful.

We got into Panama City and Bay Point Marina late afternoon.  It was very well marked and we were able to easily make our way through the winding route through shallow water into the marina.  After getting here and getting settled we were very disappointed that since the resort hotel had closed that there really was no where in the vicinity to go or do anything.

We got a quick sunset photo to send for Elkin's lake "mail run".

We were, however, greeted by Elvie and Roy Short.  They were fellow Loopers on the Gulfstar 'Roy El'.  They are very nice people who invited us for docktails and Elvie offered to take us to the airport to pick up a rent car tomorrow so that we can go pick Diane and Curtis's truck at Pensacola.

We all agreed that we will spend some time checking out other Marina's to migrate to...

Saturday morning we got up early and Elvie took Diane and I to the airport to pick up a rent car.  We then came back to the boat to pick the guys up and headed to Pensacola to pick up their truck.  We made a stop at I-Hop for breakfast then were on our way.  It was a much longer trip than we had expected.  We stopped to get Curtis and Diane's 900th Geocache at the ball park by the marina.  That was about our only detour.  By the time we made it back to the airport we barely met the drop off deadline time of 5:00.

We were able to get a picture of Alexander Shunnarah.  He has these billboards literally EVERYWHERE... but you have to read the small print.  "Alexander Shunnarah is not licensed to practiceLaw in the state of Florida"  We laughed about it the whole time we were in Pensacola... We took this picture so that we could send it to Josh.  We knew he would get a kick out of it.

We just made it back to PC by sunset... we were rushing to St. Andrews Marina to check it out and pulled in just in time to see this amazing sunset.

We were also delighted to find St. Andrews Marina to be a neat marina with lots of activity close by and think it would be a great place to stay for a bit.  We plan to move there tomorrow and try it out.

We then headed back to pick Susan and Jerry up and when to dinner at Pier 77.  It was not bad, but not exactly the best meal I have ever had.

After a quick trip to Winn-Dixi for a few, things we went back to the boat and chilled out.  Cookies were one of the staples!
